Woods Fort Clubhouse

After a devastating fire destroyed the original Woods Fort Golf Clubhouse in Troy, Missouri, the opportunity to reimagine the space sparked a bold and thoughtful design response. The new clubhouse blends modern functionality with classic Midwestern charm, using a palette of natural materials—stone, wood, and glass—to reflect its golf course surroundings. Large gabled rooflines, deep overhangs, and expansive windows give the building a grounded, lodge-like feel while maximizing natural light and sightlines to the course. The layout was intentionally designed to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, with covered patios and terraces extending the clubhouse’s use across all seasons.

Inside, the architectural design complements the rich interior work by Lucy A. Hughes of Walters Golf Management, whose approach elevated the structure with warm, timeless finishes. The building’s framework emphasizes open volume, structural clarity, and a strong connection to the landscape. Every design element—from the vaulted ceilings to the exposed timber trusses—was chosen to evoke a sense of comfort, durability, and belonging. The new clubhouse stands not only as a replacement for what was lost, but as a lasting landmark for the Troy community.
